OFFICE OF THE MAYOR

Elected by the people to serve a four year term, the mayor serves as Chief Executive Officer to the city government of Wadsworth. As Chief Executive Officer, the mayor serves as the ceremonial head to the city. He has the authority to perform weddings and the authority to proclaim special dates to be observed in the city.

The mayor regularly attends and participates in Wadsworth City Council meetings. The mayor has the power to sign new legislation passed by City Council or veto those ordinances he opposes.

By far the most important duty of the mayor is his appointment to the positions of the Director of Public Service and the Director of Public Safety. These appointments help the mayor to effectively administer city services to Wadsworth's residents and to supervise its 174 full time and 100 part time employees. Additionally, the mayor appoints many citizens to serve on numerous commissions and boards which benefit the community as a whole.
