 WADSWORTH POLICE DEPARTMENT 120 MAPLE ST. WADSWORTH, OHIO 44281 Business # (330) 334-1511 Fax # (330) 335-2770 DEPARTMENT STRUCTURE The Wadsworth Police Department consists of 26 full time sworn
officers, 8 civilian employees and 7 auxiliary officers. David Singleton is
the Chief of Police. The Patrol Division consists of 4 Sergeants, 15 Patrol Officers, 5 full-time
Dispatchers and 2 part-time dispatchers. The Patrol Division consists of 4 Sergeants, 15 Patrol Officers, 5 full-time
Dispatchers and 2 part-time dispatchers. The Detective Bureau consists of 1 Sergeant, 3 Patrol officers assigned to
the detective bureau and one data entry/secretary position. There is one
patrol officer assigned to the D.A.R.E./G.R.E.A.T. programs. ACTIVITY SUMMARY In 1997 the department investigated 455 Class One crimes and posted a
clearance rate of 34 percent. Other highlights of the 1997 annual report
are: 549 motor vehicle accidents investigated; 1863 citations issued 184
persons arrested and 148 warrants served. COMMUNITY SERVICES In addition to the traditional policing functions, the department conducts
lectures to civic groups, private businesses, and youth organizations. Tours
of the police department are possible by appointment. Fingerprinting, for
employment purposes, is done for residents free of charge. There is a $5.00
charge to nonresidents. Gaining entry into vehicles where keys have been
locked in is a service that is no longer provided except on an emergency basis. D.A.R.E. AND G.R.E.A.T. programs are taught in 6 elementary schools,
the middle school, and the high school. Approximately 2,000 students are
reached by the one D.A.R.E./G.R.E.A.T. officer each year. IMPORTANT ORDINANCES The City of Wadsworth has a Curfew ordinance pertaining to juveniles from
11:00 PM Sunday through Thursday nights to 5:00 AM the following morning.
The curfew begins at 11:59 PM on Friday and Saturday until 5:00 AM the
following morning. There are two non-snow emergency parking bans people should be aware
of. There is a 2 hour parking restriction in the downtown "square" area.
There is also a city-wide 3:00 AM to 6:00 AM parking ban on all city
streets. |
